DaVinci Resolve 18 (Free)
For gamers and streamers trying to grow, social media is very important. Where many platforms are based around photographs, images and text, some others, and the more engaging ones require videos to be uploaded. We can make videos directly from our streaming software (depending on what software you use), but this is very limiting. In most cases, you’re limited to recording live from start to finish in one take. For anything else, software for editing video is required. Sounds expensive right? Well, it can be, but it can also be completely free! When we say ‘free’, we don’t even mean basic software with watermarks forced to be displayed on your video, we mean, fully feature-rich industry-level software. Let us introduce you to Davinci Resolve by Black Magic. This powerful software does it all by combining editing, colour correction, visual effects, motion graphics and audio post-production. The software is elegant, it’s fast, and has a modern interface that is intuitive and easy to learn for new users. However, it has enough power under the hood to give professionals everything they need at their fingertips. Visit the website to download the software here.
This next website is my favourite. When talking about TinyPNG we mentioned the rather costly Adobe Photoshop. We use this at the Quality Streamers studio pretty much on a daily basis along with After Effects, Premiere Pro, Illustrator etc. We’ve already given an alternative to Premiere Pro with Davinci Resolve, but, what about everything else? And by that, we don’t just mean Adobe products, we mean… EVERYTHING ELSE. That is where AlternativeTo comes in. AlternativeTo is an extremely useful website, especially in today’s current financial climate where some people struggle with daily bills, so expensive software, and even streaming services are a luxury that is out of reach for some of us. Now, we’re not saying that everything on this website is a free alternative, but generally, they are free or cheaper than whatever it is you’re searching for. And maybe the financial struggles are not the reason you are looking for an alternative. Maybe you’re looking for something easier to use, or different to check what else is out there. AlternativeTo has you covered. It boasts 108,799 apps in its database all with opinions from other users helping you decide if the alternative is worth taking a look at or not. Let us just give you a quick summary of what people are searching for alternatives to. The list includes Netflix, Adobe Photoshop, Spotify, ChatGPT, Microsoft Word, YouTube, Canva, Snap Camera to name just a few. To visit the website and check out some alternative software and services, click here.
This next website is our favourite. We know we said that about the last one, but this one is different, it is our favourite favourite! Streamer.bot is something that we honestly believe EVERY streamer should have. Why? There are so many reasons. We’ll name just a few that will give you an idea of why you need this bot in your life. Streamer.bot firstly (and maybe not so obviously important) is self-hosted by you. You download the bot onto your PC and it stays there and runs directly from your own machine. Why is this important? Websites can go down, developers can discontinue products and you’re then left having a lot of work to do to remove these types of bots. You don’t have this worry with self-hosted products like Streamer.bot. Another cool feature which is pretty unique to this bot is that you can control it with your voice! If you’re streaming, you can switch scenes by saying ‘switch to just chatting scene’ or whatever you set up your commands to be. Compatible with Twitch and YouTube, this bot can do it all. While researching bots in the past, we found some excellent bots with some excellent features. However, you’d need a number of bots to cover certain different tasks. With Streamer.bot, we have not found a single thing this bot can’t do, and do it very well. We’ve spoken about it already on this website and we don’t like repeating ourselves. But for this particular website/bot combination (I say that because the website allows you to host ‘decks’ but that’s for another post), we’ll make an exception. We don’t want to bore you with any more details, but if you need more convincing just check out out post about the recommended new streamer software startup kit. If you’re already sold, you can find the website here.
Well, that’s all for this post. We hope you found something useful in this list, it’d be hard not to. If you have any more websites you’d like to share, please let us know in the discord.
